Mymensingh - A college girl named Yasmin Akhter, 25, died in r"ape multiple times in the eastern district of Netrokona.
He died last Sunday morning after being in the ICU at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. He was a third-year student of Netrokona Abu Abacha Degree College.
Police have arrested Alamgir, 27, who was abducted in the incident.
The deceased was identified as Yasmin Yasmin, daughter of Khorshed Alam of village Khamrahati (Konapara) in eastern district of Netrokona. Alamgir is the son of the deceased Hashem Uddin of Sripur Bali village of Netrokona Sadar upazila. He is said to be the son of the college student's father-in-law.
According to family and police sources, the girl went to her house at Shyamganj Bazar on Wednesday morning to buy books. At this time, classmate Alamgir showed him the temptation and took a few motorcycles and took him to a rented house in Alamgir in Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh district.
There, Alamgir r"aped her overnight after consuming a sedative with alcohol. At one point his physical condition deteriorated and the next day, Alamgir escaped with Yasmin leaving the Shamganj railcrossing area. He was rushed to Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital and later to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. He died on Sunday after being in ICU for two days.
Yasmin's uncle Abul Kalam Azad said Yasmin was the eldest child in his family. Although her father was not a farmer and family-friendly, her daughter was interested in her studies and she was paying for her education in college. His father had been hit by the leg for some time and now he was shaking. The father wanted to educate the girl and get married in a good house. But that didn't happen again.
East police station OC. Tawhidur Rahman said that Alamgir was detained from Sripur Bali village on Sunday night after being informed by the mother of the victim. The accused initially gave the confession. He was sent to court on Monday and sought a five-day remand.
He also said that after mixing sleeping tablets with Coke, the girl became unconscious. Yasmin was badly beaten during r"ape and r"ape multiple times. Hospital and Surathal sources initially reported that her body had been found with injuries.
